The Issues I Care (most) About

When I moved to Seattle over a decade ago at the recommendation of my cousin, I instantly found my home. Seattle is such a vibrant and warm community full of people who deserve Transparency in leadership. I’m excited to share my experience as a father and spiritual leader to help elevate conversations of Systemic Racism, Affordable Housing, Good Paying Jobs, and Environmental Sustainability.

Equality

Systemic Racism

“Darkness cannot drive out darkness, only the light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate, only love can do that.” - Dr. Martin Luther King jr.

We have never been afforded a better opportunity to end racism in our country than the political climate of today. In 1963, not so long ago: Dr King spoke the words “Darkness cannot drive out darkness, only the light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate, only love can do that.”

Today we sit at the edge of the long arc of history where we can make decisions now that will help create a world for our children where skin color is as consequential to their treatment as eye color or hair color. Where people are treated with CARE and basic human dignity regardless of sex, orientation, gender, nationality of birth, or color of skin.

The Homeless Crisis

“Be fair to the poor and to orphans. Defend the helpless and everyone in need. Rescue the weak and homeless from the powerful hands of heartless people” Pslams 82

One only needs to walk our streets and in some cases just look out of your office window or out of your bed room window to see the crisis we face regarding homelessness in this city and the 2023/24 budget has earmarked nearly $320 million dollars to CARE for the unhoused in Seattle.

Simply put, I will ensure that every dollar in that budget goes towards ensuring a better future for the families afflicted and the individuals struggling out of poverty.

Fair Employment

"The unfair union busting actions we’ve seen in recent years by Seattle’s most well-known industries must end and be held to account." - Bobby Tucker

A big component of ending the homeless crisis is the availability of good jobs that are fair to the people working with them every day. I’m a believer in America and our engine of progress. The country that put the first man on the moon back in 1969 owes a debt to the workers that make that dream possible.

This city requires every one of us contributing to make that dream a reality and every worker has a right to collectively bargain for fair pay, better treatment by their employers, and working conditions reflecting a society that CAREs for our line cooks & technical programmers alike.

The unfair union busting actions we’ve seen in recent years by Seattle’s most well-known industries must end and be held to account. The rights of the American worker must be upheld and as your representative in City Council, I will work with trade unions and union organizers to ensure that fair demands are met with the CARE they deserve.

BT Cares for the Community

As a Christian, a Father, and your next City Council Representative; I will give you my best to serve with the humility, transparency and with the wisdom of our collective community to deliver on a future our children deserve. I Affirm to work on solutions to these difficult problems with the CARE they so desperately need.
